PHILADELPHIA -- President Clinton has announced that he will appoint the Environmental Protection Agency’s mid-Atlantic regional administrator to additional duties as U.S. commissioner to the Ohio River Valley Water Sanitation Commission.
Bradley M. Campbell of Philadelphia, EPA regional administrator since December, will add controlling pollution in the Ohio River to his portfolio of duties. He currently oversees environmental protection in Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, and the District of Columbia.
The Ohio River Valley Water Sanitation Commission administers an interstate compact among the States of Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, and West Virginia. Its purpose is to control future pollution and to abate existing pollution from the rivers, streams, and waters in the Ohio River basin.
Prior to joining EPA, Campbell served four years as associate director of the White House Council on Environmental Quality, where he was responsible for toxic chemical and environmental protection issues.
Campbell also served as an attorney and policy advisor for legislation and special litigation at the U. S. Department of Justice. Campbell worked in private law practice at Rogovin, Huge & Schiller law firm, and was a law clerk for U. S. District Judge Thomas A. Flannery and U. S. Circuit Court of Appeals Judge Carl McGowan, both in Washington, D.C.
He received a B.A. (magna cum laude) from Amherst College and a J.D. (cum laude) from the University of Chicago.
