EPA TO HOLD MIDDLETOWN OFFICE HOURS TO TALK WITH CONCERNED PARENTS
Release Date: 12/08/1998
Contact Information: Alice Kaufman, EPA Community Affairs Office, (617) 918-1064
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency will be holding office hours at Middletown Town Hall on December 9 and 10 from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
As follow up to the November 23 public meeting on Katy Field, the Navy is testing soils at Old Fire Fighting Training Area for possible contamination. The test data will be used to evaluate the health risks of children who played at Katy Field.
Information about the use of Katy Field for baseball, summer camp, and other recreational uses will be important to those whose job it is to assess the potential risk to children. EPA would like an opportunity to talk with and receive information from little league parents and others whose children play at Katy Field to help us better understand how the field is being used. Responses will be kept confidential.
EPA's project manager for Katy Field, Kymberlee Keckler, will be available at the Town Hall on Wednesday and Thursday this week to gather information from the parents or answer questions regarding site history, contaminants, or the investigations currently underway.
