4th Annual UC Davis Symposium: “A Greener Planet: Reuse of organic residuals”
(SAN FRANCISCO) -- The U.S. Environmental Protection is co-sponsoring the 4th annual Pacific Southwest Organic Residuals symposium September 22 - 24 at the University of California Davis, where regulators, industry and municipal representatives, researchers and students will be looking for ways to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, provide local sources of fuels and fertilizers, ensure food safety, and protect public health and ecosystems. The California Integrated Waste Management Board, Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board, California Department of Food and Agriculture, Western United Dairymen, Sustainable Conservation, California Association of Sanitation Agencies, Sacramento Municipal Utilities District, and the University of California at Davis are also co-sponsoring the symposium. There will also be a tour on September 22 of the East Bay Municipal Utility District's anaerobic digesters, which takes food waste from Bay Area restaurants and commercial food processors and turns it into energy.
