CHICAGO (Aug. 17, 2005) — U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Steve Johnson will attend a meeting in Detroit on Thursday, Aug. 18, to hear comments on the draft strategy of the Great Lakes Regional Collaboration. The meeting will be held from 6:30 to 9 p.m. in Cobo Hall, One Washington Blvd., Room W262, Riverfront Entrance.

It will be the fourth of six scheduled public meetings on the Draft Strategy to Restore and Protect the Great Lakes, which was released for a 60-day public comment period on July 7. The plan may be viewed at http://www.glrc.us
The plan was prepared by the Great Lakes Regional Collaboration, a partnership of federal, state, and local governments, tribes and other interested parties to work on Great Lakes environmental and natural resource issues. The collaboration was formed as a result of an executive order signed by President Bush in May 2004.
