EPA awards $100,000 to LDEQ for Water Quality Management Planning

(Dallas, Texas – August 5, 2008) The Environmental Protection Agency has awarded $100,000 to the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality to provide assistance to the State of Louisiana with water quality management planning activities in the Lake Pontchartrain Basin. These funds are awarded under the authority of Section 604(b) of the Clean Water Act. The funding will assist the State with measures for maintaining water quality standards and determining the cause of water quality problems through the development of Total Maximum Daily Loads (TMDLs). The State will also update and revise existing TMDL models.
