EPA to Hold Public Meeting Regarding Kentucky Wood Preserving Site in Winchester, KY

(ATLANTA – September 4, 2007) EPA will hold a public meeting on Wednesday, September 5, 2007 regarding the Kentucky Wood Preserving site in Winchester, Ky. EPA officials will provide information and answer questions about the EPA removal action underway at the site. The public meeting will begin at 7:00 p.m. at the Clark County Extension Education Center, 1400 Fortune Drive in Winchester.

The Kentucky Wood Preserving Site is located at 200 Magnolia Street in Winchester, Ky. The company used Copper Chromated Arsenate (CCA) wood preservatives in their operations, which reportedly ceased in October 2006. EPA began a removal action at the site on July 18, 2007.

Attention: A news conference will be held at the Clark County Extension Education Center at 1400 Fortune Drive in Winchester, KY at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 5, 2007. EPA officials will be available to answer all media questions concerning the removal action in progress at the Site. This arrangement will allow the public to have the entire public meeting to get information and have their questions answered.
