(Dallas, Texas – April 28, 2010) The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has issued cease and desist administrative orders to Territory Resources, LLC of Stillwater, Oklahoma, for violations of the federal Clean Water Act.
A March 25, 2010, EPA inspection of the company’s oil field production and brine disposal facilities located in Noble County and Kay County, Oklahoma, found unauthorized discharges of oil field brine and produced wastewater generated by oil production activities into a tributary of Birds Nest Creek. The inspections also revealed that water located at the discharge points of entry into the tributary of Birds Nest Creek was contaminated with brine discharges and salts.
Based on these findings, Territory Resources, LLC has been ordered to cease all discharges of pollutants from the facilities, remove all brine and contaminated soils from the flow paths located between the facilities and discharge points of entry into the tributary of Birds Nest Creek, and within 30 days provide written certification that these activities have been completed.
