EPA Administrator, Attorney General to Observe Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day

WASHINGTON – On Friday, January 14, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency will join other federal departments and agencies in commemorating Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. EPA Administrator Lisa P. Jackson will lead the agency’s special commemoration program, and U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder will keynote the event.

Holder was sworn in as the 82nd and first African-American attorney general on February 3, 2009. He was appointed by President Clinton to be the deputy attorney general in 1997, again as the first African-American to be named to that post. Prior to becoming attorney general, Holder was a litigation partner at Covington & Burling LLP in Washington, D.C.
