COMMUNITY AND BUSINESS PARTNERSHIP PROJECTS ANNOUNCED

EPA has selected 27 innovative community and business projects for grants from nearly 1,000 applicants which will support creative, local partnerships that promise measurable environmental results and more livable communities. The 27 projects vary widely, from restoring wetlands along the Rio Grande to developing options for protecting air quality along Vermont’s busiest Interstate highway, I-89. The grant awards total approximately $4 million and complete the fourth and final year of the Sustainable Development Challenge Grant Program. With these awards, the program will have funded 123 projects. All of these projects take innovative, environmentally responsible approaches to a wide variety of urban and rural environmental problems related to air and water quality, toxic substances, and solid waste management. Descriptions of the 27 new projects are available at: www.epa.gov/ecocommunity (click "Sustainable Development Challenge Grants")
