Global Climate Change Conference to be Held in Dallas

The latest scientific information on global climate change, its projected impact on the Central Southwest, and strategies to reduce the damage from climate change to the public health, economy and environment will be presented at a one-day conference in Dallas. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is sponsoring the regional meeting to educate private business and government policymakers as well as interested citizens about the science, policy and impacts of climate change to the Central Southwest area of the United States.

Academic experts, industry leaders and representatives of state and federal agencies will share their expertise and discuss potential strategies to reduce the perceived risks of climate change. Speakers include EPA Deputy Administrator Fred Hansen and Steven W. Percy, Chairman and CEO of BP America. An update of the negotiations leading to the 160-nation global climate change meeting in Kyoto, Japan, this December also will be presented by EPA Assistant Administrator David Gardiner.

While the conference targets business leaders, public health officials, state and local government officials and city planners, anyone concerned about effects of climate change on the environment, economy and public health of the Central Southwest is invited to register and to attend.
