CHICAGO (Oct. 25, 2007) - U.S. Environmental Protection Agency recently named the Tri-Cities Wastewater Treatment facility a recipient of the 2007 National Clean Water Act Recognition Award. The award honors municipalities and industries for outstanding and creative technological achievements in wastewater treatment and pollution abatement programs.
The facility serves 62,130 people in Vandalia, Tipp City and Huber Heights, Ohio, and discharges into the Great Miami River. It is one of six national winners and EPA Region 5's only honoree in the Pre-Treatment Program category.
The awards, based on water quality compliance screenings and satisfactory environmental quality records, were announced during the recent Water Environment Federation's Technical Exposition and Conference.
