EPA PUBLISHES PROGRESS REPORT ON POLLUTION PREVENTION ACTIVITIES
EPA’s Office of Prevention, Pesticides and Toxic Substances (OPPTS) has published a report entitled “Pollution Prevention 1997: A National Progress Report.” The report highlights a broad range of programs and various approaches taken by industry, government, educational institutions, community and other groups to prevent pollution. It also provides a summary of OPPTS’ efforts to promote pollution prevention in EPA policies, regulations and programs. The challenges of measuring pollution reductions achieved through prevention programs and other issues associated with finding creative solutions to reducing waste also are discussed in the new report.
