Southeast Diesel Collaborative Conference to be Held in Atlanta

(ATLANTA – June 20, 2008) The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) will host a consortium of federal, state and local government agencies, non-profit organizations, private industry and research groups at the Southeast Diesel Collaborative Third Annual Partners Meeting in Atlanta on June 23-25, 2008. The goal of the conference is to focus on nationally and regionally significant diesel emissions issues; bring experts together to promote clean, renewable fuels and innovative and emerging clean diesel technologies; and discuss strategies for various onroad and nonroad sectors, including construction equipment, marine ports, locomotives and public fleets.

The Southeast Diesel Collaborative is a public-private partnership composed of stakeholders from Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee. The goal of the collaborative is to improve air quality and public health by reducing emissions from existing diesel engines. The collaborative is part of EPA’s National Clean Diesel Campaign, a program combining regulatory measures with voluntary initiatives to reduce the pollution emitted from diesel engines across the country.
