SAN FRANCISCO The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has proposed full approval of an amendment to the 1997 smog reduction plan for the South Coast Air Quality Management District. The amendment revised the plan to provide more near-term smog reductions.
The EPA had proposed disapproving the 1997 plan one year ago. The recent amendment now makes the plan approvable. The South Coast Air Quality Management District adopted the amendment Dec. 10, and the California Air Resources Board approved it Jan. 27.
