Press Conference Regarding Woonasquatucket/Blackstone Rivers to be held on Friday May 2

PROVIDENCE - A major announcement regarding the cleanup and revitalization of the Woonasquatucket and Blackstone Rivers will be made at 1 p.m. Friday, May 2, on the banks of the Woonasquatucket River in Providence.
Speakers at the press conference will include:
- Steve Luftig, senior advisor for EPA's ReUse Program in Washington
- Robert W. Varney, regional administrator of EPA's New England Office
- Col. Thomas Koning, commander, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers New England District
- Jan Reitsma, director of the R.I. Department of Environmental Management

Valley Street in Olneyville along the Woonasquatucket RiverRain location: Rising Sun Mill building
Turn into the parking lot off of Valley Rd for the Rising Sun Mill Building. Follow directions of EPA staff in parking lot.
Directions: From the rear of Providence Place, follow Promenade Street to the end. The road then crosses the Woonasquatucket River. Take an immediate right onto Kinsley St. At the end of Kinsley, bear Left onto Eagle Street. At stoplight, take a Right onto Atwells Avenue. The second Left is Valley St. (see Shaw's Supermarket). Donigian Park is about 1/4 mile on the right. In case of rain, proceed past the park and turn Right into the parking lot at the Rising Sun mill building. Follow the EPA staff assisting with parking. The drive is about 5-7 minutes from Providence Place.
