FLORIDA COMPANY CHARGED WITH VIOLATING RCRA
G & M Land Holdings Inc. was charged in U.S. Southern District Court in Florida on Oct. 19 with unlawfully and improperly disposing of hazardous waste in violation of the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act. Under the terms of the plea agreement, the company pleaded guilty to the charge and to pay penalties totaling more than $275,000. The criminal information charges that between March 1995 and January 1996 employees unlawfully and improperly disposed of seven 55-gallon drums containing ignitable hazardous waste and benzene. The case was investigated by the EPA’s Criminal Investigation Division and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
