EPA PROPOSES 12 NEW SITES AND ADDS ONE SITE TO THE
NATIONAL PRIORITIES LIST
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is proposing to add 12 sites and adding one site to the National Priorities List (NPL). The primary purpose of the NPL is to guide EPA in determining which sites warrant further investigation. The NPL list is updated annually. Currently there are a total of 66 proposed sites and 1194 final sites on the NPL. The 12 proposed sites are located in seven states: Lava Cap Mine, Nevada City, Calif.; Omega Chemical Corp., Whittier, Calif.; Fridley Commons Park Well Field, Fridley, Minn.; Middlesex Sampling Plant, Middlesex, N.J.; United States Avenue Burn, Gibbsboro, N.J.; Hiteman Leather, West Winfield, N.Y.; Mohonk Road Industrial Plant, High Falls, N.Y.; Smithtown Ground Water Contamination, Smithtown, N.Y.; Tulsa Fuel and Manufacturing, Collinsville, Okla.; Tulsa Fuel and City of Perryton Well No. 2, Perryton, Texas; Many Diversified Interests Inc., Houston, Texas; and Pownal Tannery, Pownal, Vt. The one site being added to the NPL is Rockwool Industries Inc., Bell County, Texas.
