On-site Media Briefing at 11:30 a.m., Feb 19

(CHICAGO – Feb. 18, 2010) Marking this week’s one year anniversary of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), U.S. EPA Assistant Administrator Mathy Stanislaus will brief media, local officials and Waukegan residents on new cleanup and demolition work starting at Plant 2 of the Outboard Marine Corp. Superfund site in Waukegan, Ill.

This crucial work is beginning much sooner than anticipated thanks to an $18.5 million infusion of Recovery Act funds.

The briefing will be at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 19, at the loading dock of the building, located at approximately 100 Sea Horse Drive. Construction workers and equipment will be visible.

The project, first announced in April 2009, is one of 51 Superfund sites to receive Recovery Act funds.
