EPA ADMINISTRATOR BROWNER TO VISIT EVERGLADES WITH INTERNATIONAL ENVIRONMENT LEADERS

U.S. EPA Administrator Carol M. Browner will travel to the Florida Everglades on Tuesday, May 6 at 9:00 a.m. with environmental leaders of eight countries and the United Nations and the European Union to demonstrate the global significance of protecting the environment, and to highlight the value of Florida’s most precious natural resource. Administrator Browner will give brief remarks on the progress of the Florida Everglades restoration -- the nation's largest environmental restoration project -- and the importance of the project in protecting public health and the environment in South Florida.
This tour is part of the "Environment Leaders' Summit of the Eight" -- hosted by Browner in Miami, Fla. on May 5-6 -- which includes Canada, France, Great Britain, Germany, Italy, Japan, United States, Russia and the European Union. The Summit is the key forum for discussing global environmental issues prior to a meeting in Denver hosted by President Clinton with heads of state from those same nations.
