EPA and IndyCar Series Drivers Announce Phase-out of Lead Tire Weights

(Washington, D.C. – August 22, 2008) Susan Parker Bodine, EPA's Assistant Administrator for the Office of Solid Waste and Emergency Response, will join IndyCar Series drivers and Bridgestone-Firestone representatives to announce the National Lead-Free Wheel Weight Initiative. The announcement will take place at a ceremony recognizing companies and government agencies that have pledged to significantly reduce the use of lead wheel weights by December 31, 2011.
