EPA Awards $1.5 Million to Assist in Reduction of Diesel Emissions to NCTCOG

(Dallas, Texas – July 15, 2010) The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has awarded $1.5 million to assist in the reduction of diesel emissions to the North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG). The funds will be used to reduce the idling of school buses while improving air quality and protecting the health of school-aged children. Assistance will also be provided to schools, school districts and school bus operators. Additional projects include efforts to reduce diesel emissions within the construction sector through the replacement, repowering and retrofit of construction equipment and the reduction of long-term idling of heavy-duty diesel engines.
