EPA Completes Second Five Year Review of Aberdeen, NC Pesticide Dump Site

(ATLANTA – September 30, 2013) The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Region 4 announces the completion of the second Five-Year Review of the remedy for the Aberdeen Pesticide Dumps Site located in Aberdeen, Moore County, North Carolina. In April 2013, the EPA conducted a five-year review of the remedies for contaminated soils and groundwater for the Aberdeen Pesticide Dumps Site.
The Site consists of five separate areas known as the Farm Chemicals, Twin Sites, Fairway Six, McIver Dump and Route 211. The remedy at the Site currently protects human health and the environment. The next five-y ear review for the Site is required within five years of the signature of the report by September 2018.
Additional Site information is available at the Site’s local document repository and the findings of the Five-Year Review will also be sent to the repository located at the Page Memorial Library, 100 South Poplar Street, Aberdeen, NC 28315.
