PHILADELPHIA – The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s mid-Atlantic region presented its Equal Employment Opportunity Award to Eileen Burrows, a Havertown resident.
Burrows, a human resources specialist in the Office of Policy and Manager, was chosen by her peers to receive this award because she has made significant contributions in promoting equal opportunity in EPA’s mid-Atlantic region.
“She has demonstrated effective leadership skill, imagination, and perseverance in extending equal opportunities to all employees,” said last year’s winner, Mike Frankel, who made the announcement during the region’s May 11 employee recognition ceremony.
Burrows is the manager of the Disability Special Emphasis Program. The purpose of special emphasis programs is to ensure equal opportunity in hiring, advancement, training, and treatment of women, minorities and people with disabilities.
EPA’s mid-Atlantic region covers Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, Virginia, West Virginia and the District of Columbia.
