WHAT: KICK-OFF CELEBRATION FOR THE ASHLAND YOUTH CAMPUS PROJECT

ALAMEDA COUNTY REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY, HAYWARD AREA RECREATION AND PARK DISTRICT AND SAN LORENZO UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT ANNOUNCE A KICK-OFF CELEBRATION FOR THE ASHLAND YOUTH CAMPUS PROJECT AND HOLLAND PARK.
THIS PROJECT WILL INCLUDE THE CONSTRUCTION OF HOLLAND PARK, A TWO ACRE COMMUNITY PARK, IMPROVED LITTLE LEAGUE FACILITIES, A GYMNASIUM FOR EDENDALE MIDDLE SCHOOL, AND A NEW AND INNOVATIVE CENTER FOR THE YOUTH OF ASHLAND. THE CENTER WILL INCLUDE HEALTH SERVICES, JOB TRAINING, TEEN ORIENTED LIBRARY, MULTI-MEDIA TRAINING AND ART PROGRAMS. A GENERAL CONTRACTOR HAS NOT YET BEEN SELECTED FOR THIS PROJECT. PROJECT PARTNERS IN ATTENDANCE AT THE KICK-OFF WILL INCLUDE OFFICIALS FROM THE ALAMEDA COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS, HAYWARD AREA RECREATION AND PARK DISTRICT, ALAMEDA COUNTY LIBRARY, ALAMEDA COUNTY COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT AGENCY, ALAMEDA COUNTY HEALTH CARE SERVICES AGENCY, ALAMEDA COUNTY LIBRARY, ALAMEDA COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE, ALAMEDA COUNTY DEPUTY SHERRIF’S ACTIVITIES LEAGUE, ALAMEDA COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION, TRUST FOR PUBLIC LANDS,CALIFORNIA STATE WATER RESOURCES CONTROL BOARD, CALIFORNIA ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AGENCY, AND UNITED STATES ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AGENCY.
COUNTY SUPERVISORS NATE MILEY AND ALICE LAI-BITKER WILL BE IN ATTENDANCE.
“THE YOUTH OF ASHLAND SHOULD BE PROUD OF THEIR ACCOMPLISHMENT. THE CONSTRUCTION OF A PARK, NEW MULTI-USE GYMNASIUM AND YOUTH CENTER WILL SERVE THE UNINCORPORATED AREA YOUTH FOR YEARS TO COME. THE YOUTH-DESIGNED TEEN CENTER WILL BE A CATALYST IN OUR REDEVELOPMENT EFFORTS OF Ashland and East 14th Street and will stand as a testament to the young people who organized, surveyed, planned and participated in the development of this unprecedented project.” SAYS SUPERVISOR MILEY.
EVERYONE IS WELCOME TO ATTEND THE CELEBRATION AND SEE CONCEPT DRAWINGS OF THE NEW ASHLAND YOUTH CAMPUS AND HOLLAND PARK. REFRESHMENTS, FOOD AND MUSIC WILL BE PROVIDED.
