OFFICE OF WATER ANNOUNCES SENIOR LEADERSHIP CHANGES

EPA’s Assistant Administrator for Water, J. Charles Fox, has named Diane C. Regas to the position of Deputy Assistant Administrator for the Office of Water. In that position, she joins Fox and Dana Minerva, Deputy Assistant Administrator for Water, as senior leaders for the national water program. A career employee, Regas joined EPA in l987 as an Attorney-Advisor specializing in water and hazardous waste issues in EPA’s Office of General Counsel. Since then, she has served as Special Assistant to Administrators Reilly and Browner, Director of Program Development in the Office of Water, Senior Policy Analyst on the White House Domestic Policy Council, and, most recently, as Acting Deputy Assistant Administrator for Water. In another senior leadership move, Fox named Geoffrey H. Grubbs as the Office of Water’s Director of the Office of Science and Technology. In that role, Grubbs will oversee many of the agency’s major water programs and initiatives, including monitoring and protection of beaches, fish consumption advisories, national pollution discharge regulation for industry, water quality standards for rivers, lakes, and estuaries, and the science behind the agency’s drinking water standards. Grubbs is an EPA career employee who has served in a number of agency positions in the air, enforcement and water programs. Most recently, Grubbs led EPA’s national program for water quality monitoring, reducing polluted runoff, and managing watersheds to achieve water quality goals, including the Total Maximum Daily Loads (TMDL) program.
