STATEMENT ON THE DEATH OF ALVIN L. ALM
BY CAROL M. BROWNER EPA ADMINISTRATOR
I am deeply saddened by the death of Alvin L. Alm. He was an instrumental force in shaping this nation’s energy and environmental policies.
Al Alm served the Environmental Protection Agency during critical periods in its development in the 70's and the 80's. He was the first staff director of the Council on Environmental Quality, and his participation in developing the original Clean Water Act in 1972 is an accomplishment that we continue to build on today.
All Americans who care about the protection of public health and the environment owe him a great debt. We shall greatly miss him.
