EPA ISSUES GUIDANCE ON RULE REQUIRING PESTICIDE
EPA has issued guidance to help pesticide registrants understand their responsibility to provide the Agency with studies, incident reports and other data that indicate adverse effects of their products. The guidance is being issued to address a number of specific questions that have been raised since EPA published a final rule last fall that details requirements for reporting adverse effects. The rule was published under section 6(a)(2) of the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA) and becomes effective June 16. The new guidance supersedes all previous policy statements on the reporting requirements for adverse effects data. Copies of the guidance and the FIFRA 6(a)(2) rule are available on the Internet at: https://www.epa.gov/pesticides. For more information, pesticide registrants may contact Kathryn Bouvé, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Office of Pesticide Programs (7502C), Crystal Mall #2, Room 224, 1921 Jefferson Davis Highway, Arlington, Va., 703-305-5032, or e-mail: [email protected].
