U.S. EPA GIVES $250,000 TO REVITALIZE GATEWAY CITIES

     Grant presentation to be held November 21st
   
     MAYWOOD, Calif. -- The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency will present a $250,000  brownfields grant to the City of South Gate on Tues., November 21
at 9:30 a.m. at the Maywood River Park.  The City of South Gate has partnered with the Gateway Cities Council of Governments to inventory industrial brownfields sites and conduct environmental assessments and develop cleanup plans.  One site will become a part of the Maywood River Park.

     The industrial brownfields project will target sites in the cities of Bell, Bell Gardens, Commerce, Compton, Cudahy, Huntington Park, Maywood, Paramount, South Gate and Vernon.  Historically, these cities relied on manufacturing for economic development and jobs.  To date, 76 brownfields have been identified within the ten cities, totaling 124 acres.

Turn Left onto 59th Place (East). Turn Right onto Walker Avenue (South) and you've arrived. Please park on the right-hand side of the street or along 59th  Place.
