Funding Opportunities for Electric Utilities
The following are funding opportunities that may be available for electric power utilities to achieve SF6 emission reductions.

USDA Rural Development - Electric Programs
The program aims to accelerate system improvements and upgrades required to improve electric service in rural areas, as well as demand side management, energy efficiency and conservation programs, and on-grid and off-grid renewable energy systems.
- Type of funding: direct loans, loan guarantees, grants
- Eligible parties: electric utilities (wholesale and retail providers of electricity) that serve customers in rural areas

USDA Rural Energy Savings Program
The Rural Energy Savings Program makes loans to corporations, states, territories, and subdivisions and agencies thereof; municipalities; people's utility districts; and cooperative, nonprofit, limited-dividend, or mutual associations.

- Eligible parties: rural utilities and other companies that are current and former RUS borrowers, subsidiaries of current or former RUS borrowers, and entities that provide retail electric service needs in rural areas

ARPA-E OPEN Programs
Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy (ARPA-E) supports transformational energy research that can be meaningfully advanced with a small investment over a defined period of time. ARPA-E provides open funding opportunities for high-potential projects that address the full range of energy-related technologies and concepts.

- Eligible parties: electric utilities, service providers, original equipment manufacturers, universities, laboratories, other entities that are researching specific energy-related technology areas

DEED Project Grants
The American Public Power Association’s Demonstration of Energy & Efficiency Developments (DEED) program provides funding for innovation in projects that increase efficiency, reduce electricity generation costs, investigate new technologies, and improve processes.
- Type of funding: grants
- Eligible parties: only DEED members may apply for DEED grants; any American Public Power Association member utility, joint action agency, or state/regional association may join the DEED program for a fee
