2. Installation Instructions

3. Software Available for Download
TRIM.Risk is downloaded and installed using the TRIM Installation program. See FERA recent additions for information on updates of the TRIM.Risk and associated programs.
4. Input Files
Please read installation instructions before installing files. After downloading the zip file containing either of the databases below, unzip it into the "MySQL Server 4.x\data" subdirectory of the MySQL directory (e.g., C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 4.1\data). Be sure to maintain the directory structure of the files being unzipped. This is done by default with WinZip's Wizard interface, and is done by checking the "Use folder names" box in the Extract screen of WinZip's Classic interface.

Human Toxicity Value Database (zip)
(ZIP, 10/14/2005).
These are MySQL database files that include a set of chronic dose-response values (reference values and inhalation cancer potency factors) compiled by OAQPS (as of 04/11/2005), and identification of target organs associated with the critical effects on which the values are based. Users should confirm values are current and reflect their application needs, making corrections, as needed, prior to using. -
Residency Period Database (zip)
(ZIP, 11/18/2005) - These are MySQL database files used by TRIM.Risk that were developed from Table 15-168 of the U.S. EPA Exposure Factors Handbook (1997). This database is described further in the TRIM.Risk User's Guide Volume II. Users should confirm data within this database reflect their application needs, making adjustments, as needed, prior to using.

Ecological Toxicity Database (zip)
(ZIP, 09/29/2005).
These are MySQL database files that include a preliminary collection of ecological receptor toxicity values compiled by OAQPS for a subset of the Clean Air Act Hazardous Air Pollutants. Users should modify this file to meet their application needs, making corrections and additions, as needed, prior to using. Note: This is a beta version of the database and does not constitute an endorsement of these toxicity values by OAQPS. B. Air Toxics. The following example applications are available for training purposes only and are not intended to apply to any current real world situation.
Ecological Risk
TRIM.FaTE w. TRIM.Risk -The zip file below provides instructions for creating an example application of the "TRIM.FaTE w. TRIM.Risk" scenario of the "Ecological risk assessment with TRIM.FaTE" project using the TRIM.FaTE training application and TRIM ecological toxicity database. NOTE: This application is for training purposes only and is not intended to apply to any real world situation.
Step 1. - If TRIM has not been previously installed, install it using the TRIM Installer. Be sure to select "Ecological risk assessment with TRIM.FaTE" when prompted to "Please select the activities you expect to perform with TRIM."
Step 2. - Download the TRIM.FaTE Training Application and Public Reference Library by following the instructions for the TRIM.FaTE Training Application.
Step 3. - Download the TRIM Ecological Toxicity Database, and install it in the "MySQL Server 4.x\data" subdirectory of the MySQL directory on your computer (e.g., C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 4.1\data).
Step 4. - Download the instructions for the Example Application for “TRIM.FaTE w. TRIM.Risk” Scenario of “Ecological Risk Assessment with TRIM.FaTE” Project. Print this file and follow the directions.
TRIM.RiskEco - This package provides instructions for creating an example application of the "TRIM.Risk" scenario of the "Ecological risk assessment with TRIM.FaTE" project using the provided TRIM.FaTE and ecological toxicity databases. NOTE: This application is for training purposes only and is not intended to apply to any real world situation.
Step 1. - If TRIM has not been previously installed, install it using the TRIM Installer. Be sure to select "Ecological risk assessment with TRIM.FaTE" when prompted to "Please select the activities you expect to perform with TRIM."
Step 2. - Download the TRIM Ecological Toxicity Database, and install it in the "MySQL Server 4.x\data" subdirectory of the MySQL directory on your computer (e.g., C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 4.1\data).
Step 3. - Download the TRIM.Risk-Eco Example Application (zip) Unzip it and follow these instructions for the two files within it:
a. Unzip the Fate1yr_TrainingDB.zip file into the "MySQL Server 4.x\data" subdirectory of the MySQL directory on your computer (e.g., C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 4.1\data). Be sure to maintain the directory structure of the files being unzipped. This is done by default with WinZip's Wizard interface, and is done by checking the "Use folder names" box in the Extract screen of WinZip's Classic interface. The resulting folder contains the sample TRIM.FaTE output database.
b. Print and follow the instructions for the example application that are in the document named "Steps Required to Set Up Example Application for “TRIM.FaTE w. TRIM.Risk” Scenario of “Ecological Risk Assessment with TRIM.FaTE” Project".
Human Health Inhalation Risk with TRIM.Expo – Two example scenarios are provided below. NOTE: These applications are for training purposes only and are not intended to apply to any real world situation.
- TRIM.Expo w. TRIM.Risk (1 run) - The first zip file package provided in step 2 below provides instructions for setting up and running an example application where TRIM.Risk calculates inhalation risks using exposure estimates generated by TRIM.ExpoInhalation (i.e., APEX) for a single chemical, study area, facility, and source.
- TRIM.Expo w. TRIM.Risk (>1 run) example application – The second zip file package in step 2 below provides step-by-step instructions for setting up and running an example application where TRIM.Risk calculates inhalation risk estimates using inhalation exposure estimates generated by TRIM.ExpoInhalation (i.e., APEX) for multiple combinations of study areas, facilities, sources, and chemicals.
Step 1. - If TRIM has not been previously installed, install it using the TRIM Installer. Be sure to select "Inhalation Risk Assessment with TRIM.Expo" when prompted to "Please select the activities you expect to perform with TRIM."
Step 2. - Download the desired zip file (of the two below) and unzip it into the "input" subdirectory of your APEX directory (e.g., C:\Models\APEX\input). Be sure to maintain the directory structure of the files being unzipped. This is done by default with WinZip's Wizard interface, and is done by checking the "Use folder names" box in the Extract screen of WinZip's Classic interface.
TRIM.Expo w. TRIM.Risk (1 run) Example Application (zip) (12/13/2005) - This ZIP file contains 27 files
TRIM.Expo w. TRIM.Risk (>1 run) Example Application (zip) (12/28/2005) - This ZIP file contains 29 files.
Step 3. - Confirm that the Human Toxicity Value Database is currently installed on your computer. To do this, go to the "MySQL Server 4.x\data" subdirectory of the MySQL directory on your computer (e.g., C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 4.1\data) and check to see if the "HHToxDB" directory exists. If so, the Human Toxicity Value Database is installed. If you have not previously installed this database, download it from Section #4 above and follow the instructions for installing it.
Step 4. - Confirm that the Residency Period Database is currently installed on your computer. To do this, go to the "MySQL Server 4.x\data" subdirectory of the MySQL directory on your computer (e.g., C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 4.1\data) and check to see if the "resperdb" directory exists. If so, the Residency Period Database is installed. If you have not previously installed this database, download it from Section #4 above and follow the instructions for installing it.
Step 5. - Print the “StepsForTRIM…” pdf file (unzipped in Step 2) and follow its steps.
Human Health Inhalation Risk with HAPEM
"HAPEM w. TRIM.Risk (1 chem)" -This package provides instructions for setting up and running an example application where TRIM.Risk calculates inhalation risks for a single chemical using exposure estimates generated by HAPEM. NOTE: this application is for training purposes only and is not intended to apply to any real world situation.
Step 1. - If TRIM has not been previously installed, install it using the TRIM Installer. Be sure to select "Inhalation Risk Assessment with HAPEM" when prompted to "Please select the activities you expect to perform with TRIM."
Step 2. - Download the HAPEM model, and accompanying input files from the HAPEM Download page.
Step 3. - Confirm that the Human Toxicity Value Database is currently installed on your computer. To do this, go to the "MySQL Server 4.x\data" subdirectory of the MySQL directory on your computer (e.g., C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 4.1\data) and check to see if the "HHToxDB" directory exists. If so, the Human Toxicity Value Database is installed. If you have not previously installed this database, download it from Section #4 above and follow instructions for installing it.

Step 6. - Download the "HAPEM w. TRIM.Risk (1 chem)" scenario example application instructions. Print this file and follow directions.
