Cyanotoxins and the Safe Drinking Act
In November 2015, as directed by August 2015 amendments to the Safe Drinking Water Act, called the “Drinking Water Protection Act,” EPA submitted its “Algal Toxin Risk Assessment and Management Strategic Plan for Drinking Water” to Congress. The strategic plan is EPA’s roadmap for reducing the risks of cyanotoxins in drinking water. EPA continues to work with other federal agencies, states, territories, tribes and drinking water utilities to implement the strategic plan.
