On September 29, 1994 EPA determined that SELAS Fluid Processing Corporation, T-Thermal Company Division ( T-Thermal Co. - old name) has fulfilled all of the conditions of the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) Corrective Action Permit of September 27, 1989. No further corrective action or sampling was required at the site at that time to protect human health and the environment.

The Selas Fluid Processing Corporation, formerly T-Thermal Company Divisions, was engaged in the manufacturing and testing of incinerators used in the chemical and waste management industries. Their 7.4-acre facility included a research center and pilot testing unit for the incineration of wastes. The Drum Landfill and two Paint Waste Disposal Areas were investigated and cleaned-up. A total of 24 drums and 1500 cubic yards of potentially-contaminated soils were removed from the Drum Landfill area for the off-site disposal. Contaminated soils and three underground storage tanks were excavated on the two Paint Waste Disposal Areas, then the area was back-filled. The underground storage tank clean-up was completed under Pennsylvania Department of the Environmental Resources (PADEP) supervision.
T-Thermal's operational Permit for Hazardous Waste Storage and Incineration, issued by the PADEP under the Pennsylvania Solid Waste Management Act, expired on June 11, 2000, and was not renewed, in accordance with the Facility letter dated January 11, 2000. On May 24, 2000, T-Thermal submitted a completion-of-closure notice and certifications to the PADEP. PADEP then certified that the Facility had been properly closed. There is no further corrective action required; human exposures and groundwater are controlled on the site.
