The Safety Kleen Corp. facility is a three acre site located on Industrial Park Road in Athens, Bradford County, Pennsylvania. The facility opened in 1988 and obtained a Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) permit for container and tank storage of hazardous waste generated off-site on April 1, 1994. The majority of wastes were mineral spirits and solvents. These wastes were ultimately shipped off-site for reclamation or disposal. Spills that occurred have been collected by the secondary containment and cleaned up under Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (PADEP) supervision. The facility ceased operations in 2003, and the property is now owned by G. Webster Inc.
