Cleanup Status
Note: The Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (VDEQ) is the lead agency for managing cleanups at this facility.
On January 10, 2006, the Solite Corporation – Virginia Solite Division, Cascade facility and Permit, under EPA ID No. VAD046970521, was modified to incorporate the land, the facilities, and the closure and corrective action responsibilities, as applicable, of the GRR, Cascade facility and Permit under EPA ID No. VAD077942266. This transfer of ownership and control of the GRR facility enabled the Corrective Action for the above two contiguous Solite Holding, Inc. Cascade facilities to take place under EPA ID No. VAD046970521.
The Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) reviewed all available Facility data and determined that there were no unaddressed releases of hazardous waste or hazardous constituents from the Facility. The decision represents "Corrective Action Complete without Controls". A Statement of Basis (SB) was public noticed on October 14, 2013, which proposed Corrective Action Complete without Controls. No comments were received and the final decision regarding the Facility was approved on December 19, 2013 as part of a Class 2 Permit Modification for incorporating the decision into the facility's Hazardous Waste Management Permit. The DEQ determined that its decision for the Facility is protective of human health and the environment and that no further corrective action or controls are necessary at this time. All Permit conditions and requirements have been fulfilled and the Permit will expire on January 19, 2014.
Cleanup Actions or environmental indicators characterizing the entire facility are shown below. It is not intended as an extensive list of milestones/activities. This listing, and all the data on this page, come from EPA’s RCRAInfo and are refreshed nightly to this page. For this table and the Cleanup Activities Pertaining to a Portion of the Facility table that follows, a blank in the Status column could mean the action either has not occurred or has not been reported in RCRAInfo.

The Giant Resource Recovery, Inc., facility in Cascade, Virginia (formerly Solite Corporation - Virginia Solite Division facility), is a 462-acre site. Contaminants at this Facility
Based on available information there are no known contaminants of concerns or risk.
Institutional and Engineering Controls at this Facility
Institutional controls were not required for the site.
Institutional and Engineering Controls help ensure human exposure and groundwater migration are under control at a cleanup facility. Where control types have been reported by states and EPA in EPA’s RCRAInfo, they are shown below. Not all control types are needed at all facilities, and some facilities do not require any controls. Where there are blanks, the control types may not be needed, may not be in place, or may not be reported in RCRAInfo.
