Selected Application Summary
The selected application will support the Lac Vieux Desert Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians in decarbonizing and electrifying 145 Tribal housing units and two Tribal businesses. The residential and commercial Tribal buildings will receive comprehensive energy assessments to determine the scope of remediation and renovations required, including an evaluation of mold, asbestos, mildew, lead, and air quality. Energy efficiency upgrades will include reducing air leaks, replacing windows and vents, installing heat pumps and solar panels, upgrading electrical appliances, implementing water conservation measures, and applying exterior controls such as green infrastructure, shade trees, and bioswales. The project activities will benefit the health and quality of life for Tribal members and improve energy efficiency in the community.
Key Things to Know
