Selected Application Summary
The selected application will support the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation in reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by enhancing the use of electric vehicles (EV) for cleaner transportation. The project will improve access to EV charging stations at government buildings, facilitate the transition to an electric-powered government vehicle fleet, and encourage the adoption of EVs through a rebate program for Tribal members that incentivizes the replacement of traditional combustion vehicles. The selected application will fund projects aimed at mitigating the environmental impact of transportation, which will enhance the health and wellbeing of the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation.
Key Things to Know
Based on information provided by the applicant, the selected project will deliver the following benefits to reduce GHGs and support communities 1:
- Install 12 EV charging stations at government building parking facilities to support the shift toward cleaner transportation, ultimately reducing GHG emissions.
- Replace 13 light-duty vehicles with EVs to mitigate emissions from the government fleet.
- Provide incentives for up to 34 Tribal members living in Mashantucket, Connecticut to replace their traditional fuel-powered vehicles with EVs, helping to improve air quality and lessen the environmental impact of transportation in the surrounding area.
