Selected Application Summary
The selected application will support four greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction measures to deliver substantial environmental, economic, and health benefits to the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians. These four measures include 1) installing solar-driven heat pumps; 2) installing new energy efficient appliances to replace old appliances; 3) expanding the Tribe’s capacity to recycle waste; and 4) expanding the Choctaw Biodiesel program to convert waste oil to a biofuel.

Based on information provided by the applicant, the selected project will deliver the following benefits to reduce GHGs and support communities 1:
- Increase use of renewable energy by installing solar panels and heat pumps at 300 homes.
- Enhance public health and wellbeing in the Tribal community by reducing emissions of harmful pollutants.
- Promote economic development by supporting workforce training and opportunities in the solar and biodiesel industry.
- Improve waste management practices by expanding the Tribe's capacity to handle and recycle waste with upgraded infrastructure, including a commercial front-loading recycling truck and 30 new commercial recycling containers.
