EPA Honors Small Business Champions at Administrator’s 32nd Small Business Programs Awards Ceremony
WASHINGTON (May 5, 2022) – Today, in celebration of National Small Business Week, the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced honors for exemplary small business championship in Fiscal Year (FY) 2021 during the Administrator’s 32nd Annual Small Business Program Awards Ceremony. The award recipients included small and large businesses, state and local entities, and EPA employees who demonstrated extraordinary leadership in supporting the Agency's small business programs.
National Small Business Week is a tradition spanning over 50 years, sponsored by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), focused on acknowledging the contributions of small businesses to the nation’s economy and within our local communities.
“I am grateful to this year’s award recipients for their outstanding contributions and to the entire EPA community for this Agency’s historic small business support in FY 2021,” said EPA Administrator Michael S. Regan. “As we celebrate National Small Business Week, I commend this year’s award recipients and recommit EPA to providing equitable opportunities as we work to advance EPA’s small business first culture.”
The awards ceremony provided a public forum to recognize the accomplishments of many of the Agency’s valued small business partners. The Agency is continuing to work towards eliminating procurement equity barriers by increasing transparency, communication, and access to contracting opportunities for underserved and underrepresented business communities while enhancing small business regulatory and environmental assistance interests.
The keynote speaker, Maria Jones, President of Environmental Engineering and Measurement Services, Inc., and recipient of this year’s Administrator’s Award for Outstanding Accomplishments by a Women-Owned Small Business Contractor, highlighted her company’s efforts with the Office of Air and Radiation and its Clean Air Status and Trends Network (CASTNET) and National Atmospheric Deposition Program (NADP). EPA is committed to championing small business initiatives and strategies that support the Agency’s priorities including combating the climate crisis and advancing environmental justice and equity.
