Text Only Final Decision Tree
On screen there is a decision tree made up of five columns of shaded rectangular boxes containing interior text in white arial font. There are thin straight lines connecting many of the boxes. Starting at the left side of the page, a single box displays the question, “Is engine certified?a” The superscript a references the first note below the decision tree. There are three lines extending from the center of the right vertical edge of that box; one diagonally up and to the right, one horizontally to the right, and one diagonally down and to the right. These three lines terminate at the center of the left edge of three boxes that form the second column of this decision tree. The top box displays the answer, “Yes, as recreational”. The middle box displays the answer, “Yes, as commercial”. The bottom box displays the answer, “No”.
There is a horizontal line extending from the center of the right vertical edge of each of these three boxes, each terminating at the left center of another box. These next three boxes form the third column of this decision tree. The top box (concerning certified recreational engines) displays the question, “Is vessel over or under 100 gross tons?b”. The superscript b references the second note below the decision tree. The middle box (concerning certified commercial engines) displays the answer, “No restrictions on use as a U.S. vessel”, and this is the terminal box for the middle prong of the decision tree. The bottom box (concerning uncertified engines) displays the question, “Was engine built prior to 1999?”.
There are two lines extending from the center of the right edge of the top box in the third column (concerning vessel gross tonnage), one extending diagonally up and to the right, the other extending diagonally down and right, each terminating at the center left edge of another box. These two boxes form the top half of the 4th column in this decision tree. The upper box displays the word, “Under” and the lower box displays the word, “Over”. There is a horizontal line extending from the center of the right vertical edge of each of these two boxes, each terminating at the left center of a final box. These final two boxes form the top half of the 5th column in this decision tree. The upper box (concerning vessels under 100 gross tons) displays the text, “Vessel may carry up to 6 passengers”. The lower box (concerning vessels over 100 gross tons) displays the text, “Vessel authorized for private use only”.
There are two lines extending from the center of the right edge of the bottom box in the third column (concerning engine build date relative to 1999), one extending diagonally up and to the right, the other extending diagonally down and right, each terminating at the center left edge of another box. These two boxes form the lower half of the 4th column in this decision tree. The upper box displays the answer, “Yes” and the lower box displays the answer, “No”. There is a horizontal line extending from the center of the right vertical edge of each of these two boxes, each terminating at the left center of a final box. These final two boxes form the bottom half of the 5th column in this decision tree. The upper box (concerning engines built prior to 1999) displays the text, “Exempt from Clean Air Act requirements”. The lower box (concerning engines built after 1999) displays the text, “Potentially not eligible for import”c. The superscript c references the third note below the decision tree.
