Hydrologic Evaluation of Landfill Performance (HELP) Model Training Webinar Archive
This training webinar, recorded on April 7th, 2022 provides an overview of the HELP model. The Hydrologic Evaluation of Landfill Performance (HELP) model was developed as a tool to ensure leachate collection systems meet the regulatory performance standards for landfills. The model can help landfill designers and regulatory reviewers ensure landfills meet the requirement, and thus minimize potential contamination problems.
This 2D model estimates water balance analysis of landfills, cover systems, and solid waste disposal and containment facilities. It facilitates rapid estimation of the amounts of runoff, evapotranspiration, drainage, leachate collection, and liner leakage that may be expected to result from the operation of a variety of landfill designs. This tool can be used by designers and permit writers for open, partially closed, and fully closed sites, and is required by the EPA to evaluate landfill closure designs of hazardous and non-hazardous waste management facilities.
