EPA’s Marine Remanufacturing Program: Maintaining Compliance when Rebuilding Category 1 and 2 Marine Diesel Engines
The information on this web page is important if you own a propulsion or auxiliary commercial marine diesel engine with power at or above 600 kW (804 hp), manufactured in 1973 or later. You will also need this information if you are in the business of rebuilding or maintaining such marine diesel engines.
When a commercial marine diesel engine is covered by the Marine Remanufacture Program, a certified remanufacture system or “kit” must be used when it is remanufactured, if one is available. This web page will help answer the question of whether a kit is available for your engine.
EPA maintains a list of remanufacture systems, certified for use with Category 1 and 2 marine diesel engines according to the provisions of 40 CFR Part 1042, Subpart I.
