Emissions from Coal Mining in Colombia
In Colombia, coal continues to drive the country’s energy sector, with CMM emissions estimated to have reached 8.6 MtCO2e in 2020 and projected to grow to 12 MtCO2e in 2050 (Non-CO2 Greenhouse Gas Data Tool). An overview of Colombia's coal mining history and current methane recovery and use efforts can be found in the Global Methane Initiative Coal Mine Methane Country Profile: Colombia (April 2015).
