Green Infrastructure and Integrated Planning
Integrated Municipal Stormwater and Wastewater Planning is a voluntary process that municipalities may use to holistically achieve multiple Clean Water Act objectives across wastewater and stormwater programs. Integrated planning outlines a path to address the most pressing public health and environmental protection issues first.
The integrated planning process helps achieve clean water and human health goals while addressing aging wastewater and stormwater infrastructure, changing population and rainfall patterns, and competing priorities for funding. Using this approach can lead to implementing more sustainable and comprehensive solutions, such as green infrastructure, that improve water quality and provide multiple benefits that enhance community vitality.
