Public Hearing: Proposed Decision on SO2, NO2 and PM Secondary National Ambient Air Quality Standards
EPA held a virtual public hearing on May 8, 2024, to provide the public an opportunity to present comments and information on the Agency's proposed rule for the Review of the Secondary National Ambient Air Quality Standards for Nitrogen Oxides (N oxides), Sulfur Oxides (SOX), and Particulate Matter (PM). EPA is proposing to revise the secondary (welfare-based) sulfur dioxide (SO2) standard to be 10-15 ppb, as an annual average, averaged over 3 years. EPA is proposing not to change the current secondary NO2 and PM standards. The proposal also includes revisions to the SO2 data handling requirements related to the proposed new annual secondary standard. Speaker lists and transcripts will be placed in the docket for this rulemaking.
