April 2024
- April 24, 2024: EPA anticipates awarding up to $932 million in competitive grant funding under the 2024 Clean Heavy-Duty Vehicles Grants Program Notice of Funding Opportunity.
- April 1, 2024: EPA releases updated materials and guidance for the Renewable Fuel Standard Efficient Producer petition process (EP3) for producers that demonstrate superior process efficiency to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. These updates are intended for producers seeking to co-produce ethanol from corn starch and corn kernel fiber.
March 2024
- March 29, 2024: EPA announces a final rule, “Greenhouse Gas Emissions Standards for Heavy-Duty Vehicles – Phase 3,” that sets stronger standards to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from heavy-duty vehicles beginning in model year 2027.
- March 20, 2024: EPA announces a final rule, Multi-Pollutant Emissions Standards for Model Years 2027 and Later Light-Duty and Medium-Duty Vehicles, that sets new, more protective standards to further reduce harmful air pollutant emissions from light-duty and medium-duty vehicles starting with model year 2027.
- March 15, 2024: EPA denies a petition from the American Petrochemical & Fuel Manufacturers for a partial waiver of the 2023 cellulosic biofuel standard under the Renewable Fuel Standard.
- March 1, 2024: EPA finalizes regulations that require parties that produce biogas, renewable natural gas, or renewable compressed natural gas and renewable liquified natural gas under the Renewable Fuel Standard program to measure those products using specified methods.
- March 1, 2024: EPA is hosting a public webinar to discuss the implementation of the Biogas Regulatory Reform Rule (BRRR) provisions promulgated as part of the RFS final rule for 2023–2025 (the “Set Rule”).
