Último Chance Residents Reconnected to Water Service After Decades
Albeit located in the middle of San Juan, Último Chance residents have lacked access to reliable potable water for decades due to a broken pump system. Residents, most of which are low-income senior citizens, would refill buckets and containers directly from a municipal truck, often having to carry the heavy loads uphill in order to have access to this basic necessity. On December 23, 2020, the Puerto Rico Aqueduct and Sewer Authority (PRASA) installed the first of two water pumps. The Project was completed March 2021 with the installation of the second pump.
